Sheriff Billy Carlisle

Personal History

43 years of age. Married to Cathy Chappell Carlisle, a teacher at Robinson Elementary School. Four children, Chad, age 23, Cara, age 19, Joseph, age 6, and Laryssa, age 6. Billy and his wife have been Foster Parents to several children over the past six years and continue to do so today.

Religious Affiliation

He and his family are active members of Faith Baptist Church of Dawson County, where he also serves as a Deacon.

  • 1988 graduate of Northeast Georgia Police Academy
  • 1996 graduate of Georgia Sheriff's Elect Academy
  • 1999 graduate of National Sheriff's Institute
  • Attended Gainesville College
  • Numerous hours of training from the Georgia Public Safety Training Center

  • 15 years of law enforcement experience - all of which have been with the Dawson County Sheriff's Office.
