Special Response Team

The Special Response Team (S.R.T.) is a specially trained team of 10 Deputies that serve high-risk arrest warrants, deal with hostage situations and respond to any situation where weapons are involved. All potential members must pass a physical agility test prior to becoming a member. Potential members must also be veteran officers within the Sheriff’s Office. All team members must attend three levels of advanced training at the James A. Neal Training Center in Toccoa, Georgia. Graduates are certified as Master SWAT operators. The team Commander, Lieutenant Colonel Greg Rowan, has also been certified as a Tactical Team Commander. Team Leader, Corporal Chase Johns leads the entry team directly in all field operations. Our team also has certified hostage negotiators that assist with barricaded gunmen and hostage situations.
