For the most part this division of the sheriff's office is fully staffed year round. However, on occasion an opening will occur that must be filled. For this reason the sheriff's office will accept applications year round for this position. Individuals applying must be certified peace officers with patrol experience and preferably investigation experience.

A starting investigator with the sheriff's office receives a yearly salary of $34,463.52 and the full Dawson County benefit package.
