Outgoing Mail |
|
Inmates wishing to correspond with other inmates within our facility or another detention center will do so through the U.S. Mail. All outgoing mail will be inspected for contraband. No drawings of any kind are to be placed on either side of envelopes to prevent confusion in the handling of mail by the Postal Service. No mail will be forwarded to the Post Office if it has any drawings on the front or back of the envelope. The only writings on the envelope should be the forwarding address and the return address. Supplies (paper, envelopes, pen/pencil)
and postage must be obtained only through the Inmate Commissary Service. |

Incoming Mail |
|
Mail correspondence of a general nature will be opened and inspected by staff members for contraband and randomly read for information that may constitute a threat to the safety or security of the facility. An inmate will be notified of any censorship or seizure of mail correspondence citing specific reasons for such action. Mail clearly marked as being sent from
attorneys, court officials, media or government officials will be considered
privileged mail. Privileged mail will be inspected for contraband, but only
in your presence. |
