The Dawson County Sheriff's Office understands that we are a government agency and that most all our actions are available for public review. We are dedicated to meeting all open records requests received in writing in a timely manner. Much of the information provided to you on this web site is done to give you easy and quick access to public information. Individuals and attorneys wanting to obtain information concerning a case where an individual is awaiting trial may be required to do so by contacting the Dawson County Clerk of Superior Court and filing appropriate discovery motions.

Those wishing to obtain records or information under Georgia's Open Records laws should make their request known in writing. These requests should contain specific information about the information requested, dates and times, a contact number and name to contact with questions, a return address, and the appropriate Georgia or Federal Public Information or Record Law that you are applying for the information under. Depending on the type of information requested, you might incur certain charges. If this is the case, we will contact you prior to your request being processed.

Anyone having any questions or needing additional information concerning open records, should contact Kim Smith by phone at 706-344-3545, email: records@dawsoncountysheriff.org or fax 706-344-3550.
