The national 911 system was designed to provide a universal, easy-to-remember number for people to request police, fire, or emergency medical assistance from any phone at any location. The Dawson County Sheriff’s Office 911 Center is the first point of contact for people requesting assistance in most emergency situations. The 911 Center is responsible for receiving and processing all emergency calls, non-emergency calls, and public safety generated calls. The 911 Center dispatches and maintains unit activity logs for the Dawson County Sheriff’s Office and Dawson County Emergency Services, while completing an array of additional responsibilities. The Dawson County 911 Center provides the citizens and visitors of Dawson County with an effective and efficient coordination of law enforcement, fire, and emergency medical service.
911 employees are the vital link of communication between those confronted with emergencies and personnel responding to those emergencies. All employees within the 911 Center must be organized, adept at multi-tasking, level-headed, excellent at stress management, and trustworthy.
